Best places for nature photography near Samobor

Visiting Zagreb, Samobor or Žumberak mountains? Then you want to check out these beautiful places for nature photography:

1. Sopote Waterfall (Sopotski slap)

I have to mention the roads to get there first because they are amazing - starting from Samobor it is an hour and a half of smooth drive in the cover of dense forest, cultivated golden hills and sun-kissed vineyards. Perfect for landscape photographers.
Just 2 km away from the town of Sošice near the picturesque village of Sopote, at an altitude of about 700 meters falls a beautiful cascading waterfall. It is divided into three parts with a total height of 40 m. It is a hidden gem in the middle of Žumberak-Samobor Highlands Nature Park. There is even a water mill at the base of the waterfall, which makes it recognizable and sparks imagination for photography.
I highly recommend this one because of its remoteness, pristine, cold waters, and mesmerizing scenery.
A perfect time to go is in late spring, when the waterfall is at its largest, the birds are the loudest and the roads are empty.

2. Cerinski Vir

Everyone who is ready for a small forest adventure will enjoy this pearl of the Samobor hills.
Just a 15 minute drive from the center of Samobor, we've found a smaller, but just as cold and just as strong waterfall as the one in Sopote. This picturesque waterfall hides from the view in the canyon of Javorački potok. Two bridges run over the stream, and we arrive at the foot of the waterfall. It is wild and loud. River crayfish and salamanders rule there. Pay them respect, leave nothing but footprints, and take nothing but photos.

3. Uskok linden trees (Uskočke lipe)

I could tell you about Japetić, Plešivica or Sveta Gera mountains, but these are too mainstream and too easy to find.
Real nature photography led me to a mysterious land long forgotten, filled with dancing fairies hidden in the oldest linden trees in Croatia. In the heart of the Nature Park, on the way to the village of Šobatovići, stand the imposing 400-year-old Uskok linden trees. Their scent is orchestrating the cacophonic dance of thousands of bees in the early summer.

The Nature park is offering much more. You can find your next destination on:
