We are all well aware of what is happening in the Amazon. Many of us decided to take matters into our own hands and plant a few trees. Albeit noble, we must not get ahead of ourselves. Let's stop for a moment and think which plants we want in our environment, which ones grew there before us and which ones will grow long after us.
What danger do we expose nature, our neighbors, and our economy to? Many species do not belong to our climate, are invasive in nature and can do more harm than good.
The three most harmful species I want to draw your attention to are the tree of heaven, paulownia and wild acacia.

1. Tree of heaven (Alianthus altissima) is a species adapted to exploit new habitats, has a fast growth rate, adapts quickly to new environments, reproduces earlier than other plants, and has a large number of seeds. It is most harmful due to its venom that slows the growth of other nearby plants.

2. Wild acacia (Amorpha fruticosa) is a species that is very honey-bearing and precious in beekeeping. It was planted 20 years ago along railroads and embankments to strengthen them. Today, this beautiful tree is a nightmare because it builds uniform, dense and impassable hedges in all sunlit areas, thus preventing the development of other plants.
Collective amnesia seems to be a common occurrence in our species, so we quickly forgot about the problems with one introduced foreign species and focused on importing a new one.

3. We present Her Majesty: Paulownia tomentosa.
Originally a Chinese plant that spreads its seeds by wind, it can cover long distances and inhabit burnt or uncultivated land. It has already done the same in the south, east and Midwest of the United States.

The before mentioned species have brought us equal delight with their beauty and characteristics. What kind of adventure awaits us with paulownia, hardly anyone knows, but the idea of the recently burned forest cover of Dalmatian coast covered with Made in China plant instead of olives, pines and vines should worry us all.
Therefore, choose to plant willow, beech, ash or chestnut.
